Three Nijisanji VTubers Land Their First Anime Film Roles in Netflix's 'The Ribbon Hero'

A trailer usually shows off a film. This one also handed three VTubers a career first.

According to Anime News Network, the newest trailer for The Ribbon Hero — a Netflix anime film adapting Osamu Tezuka's classic Princess Knight (Ribbon no Kishi) — has revealed a fresh batch of cast members, and among them are three familiar names to VTuber fans: Mito Tsukino as Hecate, Lunlun as Chick, and Debidebi Debiru as Tack. ANN and But Why Tho report the three are cast as fellow workers alongside the story's protagonist, Sapphire, at a mining site — and, notably, that these are the trio's first roles in a feature-length anime.

The film itself comes from Twin Engine, directed by Yuuki Igarashi in a feature debut at studio OUTLINE, and is set to premiere worldwide on Netflix on August 8, 2026, per Anime News Network and Wikipedia.

For anyone new to the three: Mito Tsukino is a genuine piece of VTuber history. Per Anime Corner and the Virtual YouTuber Wiki, Tsukino was Nijisanji's very first VTuber — a first-generation Liver who debuted in February 2018 with a well-spoken high-school class-president persona, and who crossed the 1 million YouTube subscriber mark in December 2022, roughly five years on, as reported by Anime Corner and Dexerto.

Lunlun is the newest of the group. According to the Virtual YouTuber Wiki and Nijisanji's official site, Lunlun debuted on June 22, 2024, as part of the AYAKAKI unit, and is described as a mysterious creature that fell from the sky — no memories, just an appetite for soaking up knowledge.

Debidebi Debiru rounds out the trio as one of Nijisanji's more collab-friendly members: a self-styled demon whose ominous act, per the Virtual YouTuber Wiki, is rather undercut by a cute voice and plush-like design. The wiki lists a YouTube debut of August 31, 2018, with Nijisanji's SEEDs line.
